Fun Facts Friday
For the month of January, to celebrate my upcoming birthday, every Friday I will share a little about me for you to get to know me a little better. This year I will be turning 31, and I’m beyond excited, especially since 30 was such a great year for me. It can only get better, right?
Here are some fun interesting facts about me.
12 years old is when I began to have aspirations to be a writer after meeting an author. But it wasn't until multiple High School teachers stressed I should pursue it as a occupation that I took it seriously.
Despite my teachers support, my High School guidance counselor discouraged me from my dream due to my learning disabilities (I have dyslexia and learning comprehension problems). He believed because of those handicap I would never be able to become a writer or graduate from a 4 year college. I was able to accomplish both!
During my younger years, my favorite authors were Emily Dickinson, Patricia Polacco and Judy Blume.
CosmoGIRL and Blender magazine is what inspired me to be a journalist. (some of you might be too young to remember those publications.)
My favorite favorite movies are: The Gremlins, Clueless, Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums, Ex-Machina and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.
My first celebrity crush was New York Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter. While looking at old photos of my daddio, I realized the two had quite the resemblance.
My favorite animal are penguins.
If I could live anywhere in the world it would Amsterdam. After vacationing there in 2016, I felt at home. I loved the fast paced city, the culture, the style, and the spirit. Hopefully, I can make that happen.
I've been traveling since I was little kid. Every year my family goes away for one week (if we're lucky, two) to a city or country we've haven't been to. We've traveled to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Spain, Disney World, and New Orleans to name a few. We're always able to return with hilarious stories.
Check in next week for more facts!
