After the travesty of People magazine naming Blake Shelton the Sexiest Man Alive last year, the magazine decided to save face and listen to everyone’s outcry. People finally heard to our prayers and named Idris Elba as the Sexiest Man Alive, and we can all agree on this one, he fit the bill, unlike Blake.
Did you know Idris Elba is the 3rd Black male to get the title? THIRD! After Denzel Washington and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. People mag has been around since 1974 and began the Sexiest Man Alive issue in 1985. You mean to tell me there have only been three fine Black men walking around this earth since 1985? Nick Nolte received the titled back 1992, now I'm not Nick Nolte historian, but I feel like there could have been a handsome Black male celebrity to get that title in 1992.
Let's take some time and give People magazine some options for some Men of Color to get some recognition for future issues.
